Mortal Thoughts We dream of immortality in our daily lives We hope to live forever with this part just a phase We dream of meeting the maker and learning the secret of life We hope to know the answer once our life is through But I ask you now--not tongue in cheek What good would it really do To know the final answer when your life is through I think the answer is in the life-- that and nothing more To bring the joy, laughter, and love to those around our door To make our mark as best we can upon the face of time This I think--the things we leave-- is immortality ---- God's Grocery List Shaving creme creme rinse vegetable oil mince Nucleotides amino acids Quarks even though unseen Chlorophyll bottled water philanthropy and almond paste There's more it seems but this will do Nothing shall I waste Mix together for eternity and season strictly to taste ---- A Quiet Leisurely Walk The silence of exploding suns A tear-drop in my tea. Mallard ducks diving and preening as the bubbling brook races by. The sound of silence in my thoughts. The peacefulness of goodbye. ---- Secrets The grey mist of morning pierced the dawn the darkness and the light As though they spoke a silent song while slowly I arose I listened to them carefully the whispers in the breeze Hoping to hear the secrets that would bring me to my knees Straining to hear of life and love of living and dying and more Wanting to know the secrets that would open up the door ---- Fish You can relax, but never rest Said the goldfish man Time moves on Fish have no feet Surely you know the rest
